Montfort 107th Annual Sports Day
The 107th Montfort Annual Sports Day, the day of prime importance for the academic year 2023-24 was celebrated on the 22nd of July 2023. The day began with the chief guest hoisting the national flag and brother principal, the school flag. The chief guest for the occasion was the one, Dr. Prasanna Venkatesh M.B.B.S, M.S., D.N.B., who is our eminent old boy hailing from the batch of 1996. Our chief guest is an eminent personality in the field of pediatric urology, making his contribution to the society as a senior consultant and Managing Director at the NU hospitals Bengaluru. While the first field was filled with flamboyant limousines and master-class luxury vehicles, the unifield was filled with a sea of alumni ranging from various years, fathers, brothers, sisters, teachers, parents, special dignitaries and students. The sports day 2023-24 is already a “first of its kind” as it was a joint venture from both the Montfort Anglo Indian and Montfort ICSE schools. The chief guest inspected the March Past along with our Brother Principal and the School Captains of both the institutions. The ceremonial march past was performed with the usual diligence which already held the audience captivated. The race and track events conducted under various categories were evident that our students were already strenuous enough to go big and conquer greater heights in the near future. The relay event titled Past Vs Present was an instantaneous success with the present students emerging victorious against the dominant team of stalwart athletes who brought greater laurels and accolades to our institution in the yester years. The old boys were so generous in extending their helping hands to volunteer at the start and finish points for each track event organized. They eagerly shouldered and shared the work and were instrumental in playing a major role in the success of the days proceedings. The entire set of events organized in the morning was well received and appreciated.
The afternoon session began with the welcome dance and saw the montfortians gearing up for a set of colorful display. The cultural program showcased by the senior students from the Anglo Indian Stream focused on the importance of millets and their energy value for a protein rich society. The senior students from the ICSE showed their mettle in their display with various properties that revealed their expertise in demonstrating the theme. The girl students and the tiny tots bloomed their excellence with their exhibits. The chief guest in his speech, appreciated the entire Montfort family for putting up a grand show.
