The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Government-sponsored flagship of Public Service Program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India . The Motto or Watch word of the National Service Scheme is “NOT ME BUT YOU“
MONTFORT NSS UNIT is headed by the PRINCIPAL and is assisted by the NSS PROGRAM OFFICER (PO). Our NSS UNIT comprises of 50 volunteers from the HIGHER SECONDARY GRADES. They are trained to participate in COMMUNITY SERVICE, get a sense of Involvement in the task of NATION BUILDING and focused on becoming better citizens of India through various Activities.
The NSS UNIT aims to instil the idea of Social Welfare in the Students and serve the Society without bias. Volunteers learn various Life Skills from the people of the adopted Villages regarding how to lead good life despite the scarcity of resources. There are two types of Activities (a) Regular Activities (120 hours) and (b) Annual special camp (120 hours)
- REGULAR ACTIVITIES
The regular activity involves both 11 and 12 GRADE Volunteers. The activities undertaken by NSS are Integration Camp, Blood Donation, Plantation and Adventure programs etc..
- ANNUAL NSS CAMP
The ANNUAL CAMP is held every year for the volunteers of GRADE XI under the guidance of the CHIEF EDUCATION OFFICER. NSS UNIT adopts a village around Yercaud and conducts seven days camp for villagers. The following activities are involved such as Cleaning, Awareness Rallies,Inviting Doctors for Health Camp etc.
Grade ‘A” certificate is awarded for the volunteers who complete two years and 240 hours of service, It becomes an additional of two marks when they go for their Higher studies.
