Pertinent to the words of Carl Sandburg, “Yesterday and tomorrow cross and mix on the skyline. The two are lost in a purple haze. One forgets, one waits”, the primary preppies of our school had their fun for the whole of a week with the colour purple. The days started off with craft to let the little fingers explore their skills with papers and scissors, followed by the most exciting activity a child could do, to draw, to paint, to colour, to shade and improve their fine motor skills, focus and concentration, and hand strength, which makes it beneficial and educational apart from being fun.
Anything without games for kids is incomplete, so is the purple week. The children were made to play games with purple coloured materials. Playing in groups offered several benefits and provided a platform for healthy competition
The next day was taken over by sandwich and shakes through cooking without fire. By cooking along with the students, the teachers shared their culinary traditions and skills creating a more relaxed and open environment for students to engage with teachers outside of the classroom.
The artworks and ideas of students were displayed on the final day, the 26th of August, were appreciated by parents, for the huge effort put in by the tiny tots. The wonderful experience of being recognised developed sense individualism.
